English Language Learners (ELL)
The AMSA English Language Learners Program of Sheltered English Instruction provides specialized instruction for students according to their level of need depending on the integrated setting. Sheltered English Instruction means that students study the same subjects and material as their peers, but with simplified language and with audio-visual material presented in a comprehensible manner. Lessons and activities are designed so the English language development of the student is addressed. ELL students are also provided regular in-classroom support and enrollment in an English Language Development (ELL) class providing more focused development of necessary academic English language skills. All ELL classes are taught by a fully licensed ELL teacher.
