Physical Education
The mission of the AMSA health and physical education department is to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment that challenges each student’s knowledge and development. We believe education in the areas of physical fitness, health and wellness, psychomotor skill development, personal and social interactions will ensure students understand how to implement and maintain a healthy lifestyle. We strive to incorporate a cross curricular approach in the areas of physics, biology, math and technology into our health and PE curriculum.
The Physically Educated person as defined by the NASPE is an individual who:
- Is physically fit
- Has learned skills necessary to perform a variety of physical activity
- Does participate regularly in physical activity
- Knows the implications of and the benefits from involvement in physical activity
- Values physical activity and its contributions to a healthy lifestyle
