Thermo Fisher Scientific
In 2019, Boston-based biotechnology company Thermo Fisher Scientific donated to AMSA a new Phenom ProX scanning electron microscope. This momentous gift made AMSA the only public school in the state to house a scanning electron microscope.
Since then, we have been integrating the microscope into our science research program where 10th-12th graders conduct graduate school level research in areas such as cancer marker genes. The Phenom’s incomparable microscopic imaging and high quality resolution far exceed any standard light microscope, taking our science program to new heights and opening new worlds for our students.
This partnership is an example of how a corporation and a public school can work together in STEM education in a way that directly benefits our future scientists, engineers, and leaders.
We are extremely grateful to everyone at Thermo Fisher Scientific for this phenomenal gift.
