11th Grade Field Trip – Roger Williams Zoo

Attention all juniors! Plans for our spring field trip have been finalized! We will be going to Roger Williams Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island on Thursday, April 6th. xplore the many exhibits, learn about habitats, conservation, and countless other topics in the field of zoology. You will have the freedom to explore the zoo with your friends while checking in with chaperones throughout the day. Cost: $26 – please register on MySchoolBucks. Last Day for Sign Up: Wednesday, March 29th. If you have any questions, please seek out a class advisor!

Best Buddies Paint Night Canceled

Mental Health Awareness Day on 3/31

The Active Minds Club is holding a Mental Health Awareness Day in the Upper School on Friday 3/31. High school students are encouraged to wear green -- the color that represents mental health awareness. Club members will be at upper school lunches passing out green bracelets for those who would like one. Resources to learn more about Active Minds will also be available.

Alternative Lunch Setting During Ramadan

Do you observe Ramadan? During the holy month of Ramadan, if you are seeking an alternative setting during lunch, we'd love to welcome you into the Upper School counseling suite. You can use the space to speak with friends, relax, and/or reflect quietly.

Spring Sports Try-Out Schedule

See the Spring Sports Try-Out schedule here. Prospective student-athletes must be registered ahead of time in FamilyID and will not be able to try-out if not registered. Equipment storage is available to those that need it in the container outside of the Health Office (previously used for ski club). Equipment can also be stored in the Athletic Office and the Main Office of the Upper School. Go Eagles! Drama Club's Show T-Shirts/Sweatshirts Spirit Wear On Sale Until 4/10

The Drama Society's Spirit Wear Show t-shirts and club sweatshirts have gone on sale directly through Custom Ink. Look for " Drama Spirit Wear Sweatshirt Sale ". The t-shirts for the Spring musical are $15.76 each, and sweatshirts are $35.40 each (extra for sizes over XL). Please order by Monday, April 10 before the order closes (so we can get them before the show).  

Few Spots Left in SAT Prep Course

It is not too late to reserve yourself a spot in AMSA’s SAT Prep Course! The course begins Saturday, March 25th and runs through June 1st. This course is available to 11th and 12th grade students first. We will consider lower-grade students on a fill-in and case-by-case basis.  more details

NHS Application Invitations Have Been Mailed

Attention Class of 2024 and Class of 2025 students. Invitations to apply for AMSA's chapter of the National Honor Society have been sent in the mail. Letters should be expected to be in your mailboxes by the end of the week. An informational session about the process will take place on March 16. Language Placement Test in French and Spanish for 8th Graders

A language placement test in French and Spanish is being offered to any interested 8th grade students with background knowledge. The purpose of the test is for placement in 9th grade French and Spanish. For example, students who participated in an immersion program, took the language at a previous school, and/or are heritage speakers, may want to take the placement test.

The online test, called PLACE, is under an hour long and can be done at home. The test assesses students on speaking, writing, reading and contextualized grammar: If you would like to sign up to take the test or have questions, please email Ms. Preston, World Languages and Art Department Chair, at

Chess Tournament on 3/27 and 4/3

Rook's Corner is planning AMSA's 2022-2023 chess tournament. Just like last year, our tournament will be after school on two Monday's. This year the tournament is on Monday 3/27 and Monday 4/3 -- both days until 4:30 p.m. Rook's Corner members do not need to register, and our tournament is open to all other students grades 6-12 through myschoolbucks. The registration fee will cover pizza, snacks, and drinks for the pizza party that accompanies the tournament.


World War I Projects

Students in Mr. Proulx's Modern World History course displayed their research for World War I in the course's annual "Connect War" project. Students were given three weeks to research and create projects ranging from models and dioramas to battlefield medical guides and propaganda posters. Each scholar put forth a great effort and made the project-based assessment memorable.  See photo gallery

Science Bowl Teams at UConn
