AMSA Math Team Repeats as 2017 Small Schools State Champion!

The AMSA Math Team yesterday successfully defended its title as state small school champions in the Massachusetts math championships.

AMSA’s six-member team came from behind to defeat Massachusetts Academy of Math & Science in a close contest held at Shrewsbury High School.

Captain Rishi Advani and Danush Chelladurai led the team with perfect individual rounds. Praneet Mekala, Shane Ferrante, Aditya Kaushik, and Daniel Abadjiev also contributed to the win.

“This win was especially impressive because of the youth and relative inexperience of our team,” said advisor Matt Vea.

The team consisted of one senior (Rishi), one sophomore (Praneet), three freshmen (Danush, Aditya, Daniel) and one eighth grader (Shane).

AMSA will compete next in the New England championships at the end of April, where they will try to repeat as small school champions. Go AMSA!
