Building Bridges
Mr. Brandes’ 8th grade Physics class spent the last two weeks building bridges… literally. Their assignment was to apply physics concepts to an actual engineering challenge by designing and building a bridge that was structurally strong enough to support 20 lbs. As in the real world, the bridge had to meet specific size and weight requirements, and be constructed using only certain materials. The culmination of the project was this week’s testing of the bridges with real weights. Here’s how some of them did.
