Race Cards
Honest. Thoughtful. Uncomfortable. Sad. Funny. Race Cards. AMSA is participating in the Race Card Project, founded by journalist Michele Norris as a way to start conversations about race around the country. AMSA students and staff condensed their observations about race and identity into six-word essays and posted them on a wall outside the upper school cafeteria. Ms. Johnson organized the effort with her Contemporary Voices classes, the Black Student Union, and staff. Here is a slideshow of the 70+ six-word essays that were contributed. They provide a unique window into the thoughts and experiences of our own community.
